2.5" Hand-painted Kolhapuri Chappal Magnet Souvenir.

These quirky magnets are an ode to Kolhapuri Chappals.

Kolhapuri Chappals originated around the 12th century in the Kolhapur region of India, gaining prominence with royal patronage from King Shahu Maharaj in the 18th century. Traditionally made by the Charmakar (cobbler) communities, these hand-crafted sandals received Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2019, recognizing their cultural and regional significance.

The industry now faces challenges like declining profits and the influx of fakes, with artisans struggling for recognition despite the chappal's global fashion recognition. 

These magnets were first skilfully created in clay by our talented artist and then in fibre. These have been hand-painted    

Use these magnets to decorate your fridge, hold up notes on your work desk, or hang up photos or important documents. They would make a great souvenirs from India. 

Being hand painted, these products are unique in themselves and their tiny imperfections are what make them special.
