Johnson and Kai Winding is now available on RSD2020.One of A&M/CTI's rarest releases, this album, recorded in 1969, has been available on CD and streaming since its initial release in 1970. Rare in that it was never released, it features an all-star group that includes two leaders plus Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Bob James, Ron Carter, Grady Tate and Ross Tompkins.4AD releases "Fordlandia," the sixth album by post-classical originator JOHANN JOHANNSSON, the first heavy vinyl release from the Icelandic contemporary musician and post-classical musician who passed away in 2018 at the age of 48. His sixth album "Fordlandia", released in 2008, is known as one of the most representative works of the post-classical scene with its brilliant fusion of strings and electro music. It was released on CD only through 4AD at the time, and was released on vinyl for the first time in 2013 in limited quantities through his own label, NTOV. This is the first vinyl release on 4AD (180g heavy black vinyl), and it is newly reborn in a gatefold sleeve by Chris Bigg, the artist who also did the artwork for The Breeders' "All Nerve".The album's name comes from Fordlandia, a natural rubber plantation built in Brazil in the 1920s by the U.S. car company Ford, and one of the themes of the album is the "clash of mysticism and rocket science.
