Elements #6

This piece is an exploration of the quiet, ancient energy found within the Blue Mountains. In Elements #6, I’ve distilled the rugged landscape near my home into a series of rhythmic, abstract forms—stripping away the literal to focus on the interplay of earth, cascading water, and light.

The Vision

The composition is built on the physical foundations of the bush. You can feel the weight of the weathered sandstone rocks and the vertical reach of the native gums, rendered in organic sweeps of moss green, earthy ochre, and soft, dusty pinks. I wanted to capture the power of the waterfalls that carve through our landscape, represented here by fluid, vertical movements that break through the solid geometry of the valley walls.

Details & Texture

• Palette: A sophisticated mix of eucalyptus greens, terracotta, slate grey, and blush tones that mirror the shifting colors of the valley.

• Technique: Bold, gestural brushstrokes create a sense of momentum. The white and pale grey tones represent the rush of water, providing a cooling contrast to the warm, tactile depth of the "rocks" and "foliage."

• Atmosphere: While abstract, the work maintains a strong sense of place, offering a contemporary window into the timeless beauty and the active, flowing life of the Australian wilderness.
