TM11-443 KEYER Tape Recorder code Machine WW2 Military Jeep Tank Truck US Army   told it was an old code machine,    looks new or barely used, book is from 1943   really cool old electronics piece... guessing one of the first tape recorders!!   Great collector piece for guys that like vintage electronics... ww2 collectors, military collectors!!!    yes its heavy....  guess you cant record with it?  research it before purchasing.

US Signal Corps code practice set with tone generator. Inked tape, 4 tubes plus a photocell. This set was designed to automatically send audio tone dot and dash signals at varying speeds . A variable speed electric motor pulled a paper tape past a photoelectric tube. A light shined through to the photoelectric tube unless it was blocked by black ink marks on the tape. This determined when the oscilator would be keyed to make the tones.  Original manual is TM 11-443, "Keyer TG-34-A", 25 October 1943.

By 1959 there were three variants of the original TG-34 Keyer.  These variants had different types of circuitry for the oscillator, keying amplifier, and photoelectric cell.  These differences, along with the associated tube configurations, are documented in U.S. Army Technical Manual "TM11-6940-200-35 Field and Depot Maintenance, Keyers TG-34-A, TG-34-B and KY-127/GG".
