Cloth backed boards, 12mo; 107, (2), 2-8, 11-13pp. Fair with page 9-10 of appendix ripped out (possibly because the leaf contained a testimony about Mrs. Kinney having an abortion?); facsimile page loosely inserted; corner of 12-13 also torn with minor loss to text. Chip to rear board, modest soil. Main text complete, a decent working copy.
A companion piece, or sorts, to Hannah Kinney's earlier autobiographical work, A Review of the Principal Events of the Last Ten Years in the Life of Hannah Kinney (1841), which she wrote after being acquitted of murdering her second husband by arsenic poisoning. In this volume, Witham, Hannah's first husband, recounts his own twenty-year relationship with her. He describes their marriage, separation, and the subsequent events of her life as he witnessed them--and asserts despite Hannah's later notoriety, she had never attempted to poison him. American Imprints 42-5283; McDade Annals of Murder 561n.
