Riley Mcilwain honed his teaching skills for both youth and adult Judo at the world renowned Pedro’s Judo Center. Pedro’s Judo Center is owned and operated by Olympic medalist and coach Jimmy Pedro. Kids Judo Blueprint brings the quality instruction from Pedro’s Judo Center, directly to YOU! This instructional is designed to compliment your child’s existing Judo training, and provide some excellent drills to hone their skills at home and at Judo practice!

Many parents rightfully worry about overwhelming their kids with too much. Riley takes an approach that makes learning Judo much easier and much more enjoyable for youth athletes. Sometimes kids can get lost in the shuffle in large programs. To maximize both your child’s skill and enjoyment of Judo, Riley applies a methodical approach that children of ALL ages can benefit from his instruction.

Kids Judo Blueprint is divided into 4 parts that are designed to cover everything from break falls, to turning throws. Each part builds off of the previous one, providing you a sturdy foundation to build upon. Part 1 of Kids Judo Blueprint starts with falling safely. In Judo there is no way around falling to the mat. However through developmentally appropriate drills, your child can cultivate the skills necessary to keep them safe on the mat. Not only will your child learn Judo specific safety tips, but also better overall body awareness.

The second and third part of the series focuses on taking the concepts learned in part one, and applying them towards throwing techniques that are essential for youth Judo athletes. Each technique starts off easy and gradually progresses towards a more complex version. Rileys approach here helps beginners feel more confident by finding success early on and building off of that success.
