Description:
World premiere recording of RVW for two pianos! This is the world premiere recording of arrangements for two pianos by musicians associated with Vaughan Williams. The two-piano version was arranged by Michael Marriner (1895-1973), who studied composition with Vaughan Williams at the Royal College of Music. The composer himself supervised the entire "Symphony No. 5" in this "two-piano version," including corrections and annotations by Vaughan Williams in the manuscript. This version was completed by the collaboration between the composer and his pupil, and is the version endorsed by the composer! The two-piano version of the masterpiece "Fantasy on a Theme of Tallis" is arranged by Maurice Jacobson (1896-1976), a 20th century English composer/pianist who studied composition with Stanford and Holst.
