Description:
The Bavarian State Opera was founded in the 17th century by the Elector of Bavaria, Henriette Ardelheit, as a court theater. Here is a unique video documentary that portrays the long history of this opera house from the inside. The film focuses on the production of three operas, "Die Meistersinger von Nuremberg," "The Elegant Indian Countries," and "The Masked Ball," and features Kirill Petrenko, who was appointed music director in 2013, Jonas Kaufmann and Anja Harteros, who rose to stardom at this opera house, and others. The film also focuses on the orchestra, chorus, ballet company, costume and set design department, and all the people involved in the operation of the opera house, from the general director to the staff. This film is not only an excellent document of the traditional Bavarian State Opera, but also answers the question of what it means to be an opera house. Naxos Japan
