Bruce Dickinson has found something in 1997 that he doesn't want to lose in 1998 either. It's called endless inspiration. Together with guitarists Roy Z and Iron Maiden mate Adrian Smith they penned some of the greatest heavy metal songs of the 1990s.
The sound is a lot heavier than last time packing a modern '90s punch but the song structures are classic metal backbones but don't sound dated due to energetic performances.
There are catchy and aggressive choruses (Killing Floor), amazing riffs (Trumpets of Jericho, Killing Floor) and the sheer captivating power of Machine Men also cannot be ignored. The keyboard-enhanced title-track, the acoustic ballads (Jerusalem and parts of Gates of Urizen), the epic Book of Thel or The Tower all are standouts with a catchy and melodic chorus.
