“Who is the ‘Australian Woman’ of today?  Certainly, she can no longer be thought of a playing an abject secondary role.  She might say that she still has a long way to go, or she might tell you that she’s perfectly happy, thank you.  But there’s no doubt that she’s talking about herself, thinking about herself, and emerging as herself in ways completely different from Australian women of earlier generations.
