Harley-Davidson part number 31604-48 is a 6-volt ignition coil primarily used on vintage "Big Twin" motorcycles from 1948 to 1964. 

It is a "square-style" coil and is a standard component for Panhead, Knucklehead, and Flathead models.

• Secondary Resistance: 17.5 – 18.5 Ohms
• Input Voltage: 6V
• Ignition Type: Mechanical (Points)
• Fire Method: Dual Fire (both cylinders fire at the same time)

• Panhead (1948–1964):
  • EL (Hydra Glide): 1949–1952 (61 cu. in. models).
  • FL (Hydra Glide / Duo Glide): 1948–1964 (74 cu. in. models).

• Knucklehead: Late 1947 and 1948 models (transitioning to the new coil style).
