Bruckner's masterpiece "Symphony No. 8", performed by Jansons & the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks!Born in 1943, Jansons turned 75 in 2018.Since his debut in 1972, he has held various principal conducting positions with various orchestras and has released numerous recordings. As is typical of Jansons, who specializes in German-Austrian and Russian works, he has recorded the complete symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the complete symphonies of Mahler with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, but no complete works of Bruckner Bruckner's complete works have never been recorded. The only Bruckner recordings have been Nos. 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9 with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and No. 7 with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in 2007. Many of you must have been looking forward to hearing Bruckner's masterpiece "No. 8" under Jansons' baton. Here is the performance of No. 8. Jansons used the 1890 manuscript.The entire work is approximately 80 minutes long, and the tempo is so slow that it can fit on a single disc even in SACD format, but the third movement, Adagio, is played a little early, and the first and second movements are played relatively leisurely to give a sense of liveliness. The music of Bruckner, especially No. 8, is not like Mahler's works, where the focus is not on highlighting the individual voices, but rather on the euphoric exuberance that evokes the creation of the universe, and Jansons has no complaints in this respect. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has put all of its resources to work to create a wonderful complex of sound. Naxos Japan
