Description:
An album that is a precious legacy of the British Folk Revival English folk singer Shirley Collins recorded 37 songs in two days in 1958, backed by American trad folk players. Eighteen of these songs were selected and released on Argo in 1959. The works heard here are a precious legacy of the British folk revival of the late 1950s and early 1960s, and represent the starting point of her flexible attitude toward the music of that era, from acoustic to electric, from old-time music to progressive folk-rock. It can be said to be her starting point.
