This pieces depicts some of the greatest dancers (and dance fighters) of the avian world. I'm obsessed with all grouse in general, but OMG just watch this video of the Greater Sage Grouse mating ritual  (skip ahead to 2:30 to see what inspired this little group of pieces):

Conservation status according to audubon.org:

"Has disappeared from much of former range. Loss of habitat (through clearing for farmland and overgrazing) is one major cause. Threatened by energy development and the effects of invasive plants in much of its remaining range.”
