The Keepers Ascent Cape Henry Lighthouse Blueprint charts the spiraling climb through one of the Republic's first commissioned towers — an octagonal sandstone sentinel raised over the Chesapeake's mouth, its courses hewn from Aquia quarries and stacked by hands that still remembered the Revolution. The drawing reads like a quiet argument in stone: that a young nation could shoulder the Atlantic if it built tall enough, and true enough, to be seen.

Bella Frye sources lighthouse drawings from American maritime archives — the U.S. Coast Guard, National Archives, and historical societies along the Atlantic, Pacific, and Great Lakes coasts. These are engineering documents, not blueprints. The aged paper tone, the hand-drafted weight of the linework, and the original notations are preserved in the print.
