Description:

Thank you Elishka! Brahms' final performance! The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra and its honorary conductor, Radomir Elischka, who have given numerous masterful performances, completed their project of performing the complete Brahms symphonies in March 2017. The last piece featured was No. 1. An album recording of that special concert is now available. The performance is an overwhelming masterpiece, full of youthful energy. After the fresh, clear, and limpid Mendelssohn and Schubert, the main Brahms piece is a masterly performance of music of great scale that combines effervescent passion with a high level of dignity. This is a moving disc to be savored with gratitude to the great maestro. The other numbers of the Brahms project by Elischka/Fuda Symphony Orchestra are ALT-304 (No. 3), ALT-319 (No. 2), and ALT-330 (No. 4), all of which have been released to great acclaim. Studied at the Brno Music University in the Czech Republic under Janacek's senior brother, Břetislav Bakala. From 1969 to 1990, he was Chief Conductor and Music Director of the prestigious Czech orchestra, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. In 2006, he gave a legendary performance at the subscription concert of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and in 2008, he became the first principal guest conductor of the orchestra. His live CD with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra has been highly acclaimed. He has also performed with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, etc. He served as the president of the Czech Dvorak Society from 2001 to June 2013. <The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1961 under the name of "Sapporo Citizens' Symphony Orchestra", became the "Sapporo Symphony Orchestra Foundation" in 1962, and in 2009 became the first orchestra to become a public interest incorporated foundation. Known as the "Sapporo Symphony Orchestra," it is the only professional orchestra in Hokkaido, which has a population of more than 5.4 million people on 83,457 square kilometers, or 22% of the island's land area.Based at the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, known for its excellent acoustics, the orchestra has been widely known for its transparent sound and powerful expressiveness, which is appropriate for the magnificent Hokkaido region. Successive conductors include Masao ARATANI, Peter SCHWARZ, Hiroyuki IWAKI, Kazuyoshi AKIYAMA, and Tadaaki ODAKA. In April 2015, the orchestra welcomed Max Pommer as Principal Conductor, and the live recordings and CDs of the orchestra's performances of a wide range of music, from Bach to contemporary music, have been critically acclaimed. The CD also received rave reviews. Radomir Elischka has served as Principal Guest Conductor since 2008 and Honorary Conductor since 2015. The recordings featured not only Czech music, his specialty, but also symphonies by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and others. The ensemble has performed overseas in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Italy, Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Taiwan, and has received favorable reviews in each country. King International
