Geological predecessors have portraits and brief descriptions in chapter 3, ‘the Homeric Age’, and throughout the text where their researches are encountered. Vol. 2, pt 2 titled ‘Yorkshire from a Railway Carriage window’, includes 18(!) routes. Pt 3 ‘Specimen Days’ has a further 99 routes, all with illustrations.The two volumes are well indexed. A classic work in good condition.
