Description:
A collection of three violin concertos, modern and contemporary British. Compared to the Elgar and Walton works, the style is more concise and the accompanying orchestra is expected to sound more chamber-like. Patterson is a composer who studied at the Royal Academy of Music. The concerto, subtitled "Serenade," is dedicated to the album's performer, Hawick. It opens with a lively toccata movement, but beautiful music is placed in the second movement, guided by an enchanting harp tune. Leighton was a composer known for more than 100 works, including three symphonies. He is especially well known for his choral works, and this Violin Concerto, accompanied by the words of the Italian poet Negri, "I looked for you but could not find you...," is both serious and frenetic in its compositions. Another composer, Jacobs, is also one of England's leading composers. This is a lyrical work in which the violin sings a technical and impressive melody. Naxos Japan
