Description:
Jacqueline Dupré, a prodigy who died at the young age of 42, gave this concert in 1961, a year after her shocking "official debut at London's Wigmore Hall," with her first concerto, a Schumann concerto. Audiences loved her Elgar, but in fact the romanticism of Schumann's concerto suited her sensibilities better, and when she learned it from Rostropovich in 1966, she was praised as "the most perfect Schumann I (Rostropovich) have ever heard. Rostropovich's 1919 Schumann Concerto by Rostropovich is a masterpiece. Rostropovich's 1962 Dvořák with Carlo Maria Giulini is also a first release, with a total time about 3 minutes faster than the 1977 studio recording, and a very passionate performance. Of course, Giulini's orchestral part, with its meticulous attention to detail, is also a must-hear.
