Raniero Fernández (Vigo, 1909-1999) realiza, durante as décadas cincuenta e sesenta do século pasado, unha interesante obra fotográfica que, co paso do tempo, adquiriu gran relevancia. A súa actividade como fotógrafo está estreitamente vinculada coa que desenvolveu como presidente da Agrupación Fotográfica Gallega durante o período en que esta estivo máis activa. Lonxe da estética do pictorialismo tardío que caracteriza a fotografía afeccionada dese momento, moitas das súas imaxes lémbrannos o traballo de figuras como Cartier-Bresson e a Doisneau; dun xeito moi particular, a extensa serie que realizou no porto de Vigo. Por outra banda, cabe resaltar os proxectos consistentes en fotografar de xeito sistemático os hórreos e os cruceiros a través da xeografía galega.
