The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 100/50 is a solar charge controller designed for 12V and 24V battery systems, accepting a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 100V and delivering up to 50A of charge current. It suits off-grid installations, marine applications, and mobile systems where reliable, efficient solar charging is required without the need for Bluetooth connectivity or a display.
The BlueSolar MPPT 100/50 uses Victron's multi-point tracking algorithm to locate and hold the optimal operating point of the connected PV array. Unlike PWM controllers, which clamp the panel voltage down to battery voltage, an MPPT controller operates the panels at their true maximum power point. In practical terms, this typically yields 10 to 30 percent more energy from the same array, particularly in cold weather or partial shading where the panel's voltage-to-current curve shifts.
The 100V input ceiling allows series-connected panels or small strings to be used, reducing cable losses on longer runs between the array and the battery. The 50A output is sufficient to charge a 12V 600Ah battery bank at a reasonable rate, or a 24V system with proportionally larger capacity. The controller supports a programmable charge profile, so it can be configured for the specific battery chemistry in use. The VE.Direct port means it integrates directly into a Victron system with a GX device, enabling remote monitoring and data logging without additional hardware.
The BlueSolar range does not include built-in Bluetooth. If wireless monitoring is required, the VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle can be added separately. This keeps the base unit cost lower for installations where monitoring is handled by a GX device or is not required at all.

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced solar installer. Ensure the PV array open-circuit voltage does not exceed 100V under any temperature condition, including cold-weather Voc rise. Verify battery chemistry and select the appropriate charge profile before commissioning. The load output terminals must be sized and fused correctly for the connected load. For integration into a monitored Victron system, a VE.Direct cable is required and sold separately. Bluetooth monitoring requires the addition of a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle, also sold separately.
